01 / GETTING STARTED

Your first connection,
three small steps.

  1. 01

    Open Moute.

Open Moute on your phone and the Windows or macOS helper on your computer. The Windows app is portable; run the downloaded Moute.exe file. On macOS, install the app from the Moute.dmg package.

    Download options
  2. 02

    Join the same network.

Connect your phone and computer to the same local network. Allow local network access if Moute requests it, then select your computer on the Devices screen on your phone.

  3. 03

    Verify the code.

Compare the pairing codes on both screens. If they match, approve the connection on your computer. Keep Moute open on your computer to control it from your phone.

Samsung and LG TVs need no extra software: connect your phone and TV to the same local network, select the TV in Moute and approve the prompt on the TV. On Android TV and Google TV, install the Moute app on the TV and enable it under Settings → Accessibility → Moute; the TV then appears in Moute as App.

02 / LET’S SORT IT OUT

Having trouble connecting?
Start here.

A few checks for the most common issues.

My computer or TV doesn’t appear.
  • Check that your devices are on the same local network and Moute is open on your computer.
  • Allow local network access for Moute in your phone’s app settings. On iPhone or iPad, check Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network.
  • Guest networks or device isolation can prevent discovery. Try a shared network you trust. If you use a VPN, check its local network access setting.
  • Allow Moute through your computer’s firewall on your trusted private/local network. Then reopen Moute on both devices.
Pairing or connection won’t complete.

Check the approval request on your computer or TV. Pairing codes are only valid for a short time; if one expires, connect again. If the codes differ, reject the request and start again. If you see “Too many attempts”, wait until the timer on screen runs out. If the issue persists, forget the pairing in Moute, reopen the app on both devices and pair again.

Connected, but the cursor won’t move.

Make sure you selected the right computer on your phone and the desktop helper is open. If Moute requests Accessibility permission on macOS, allow it in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility, then reopen the app.

Some TV remote controls don’t work.

Available controls for Samsung, LG and Android TV vary by model and connection method. Approve the connection request on your TV; on Android TV, check that the Moute accessibility service is on. If the issue persists, email us with your TV’s brand and model and the control that doesn’t work.
